Mardi Gras storm to bring cooler temperatures with it

Severe Weather
National Weather Service

Mardi Gras is off to a good start weatherwise, but the calm, breezy conditions that greeted Fat Tuesday will turn into stormy conditions by this afternoon.

Those storms should roll in around 2 p.m. and be out of the area by 8 p.m. Strong winds will usher in those storms, with wind gusts reaching as high as 60 miles per hour in some parts of the New Orleans metro area.

That storm will bring with it cooler temperatures. Highs will top out in the mid- to upper-60s on Wednesday and Thursday. We'll get back into the 70s on Friday and Saturday before another line of showers brings in another cool front, sending temperatures back into the 60s for Sunday and Monday.
