Shower chances are higher today.
"We see more rounds of rain Tuesday. Scattered storms can be expected at times, but there will be breaks in the rain," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. "With showers moving, the overall flooding threat is low, but rain could be heavy at times."
He has today's rain chances at 70%.
"We see much of the same Wednesday and Thursday with our storm system still nearby. At times rain will be heavy with the stronger storms, so we'll need to watch for localized street flooding. Temperatures stay in the mid-80s thanks to rain and clouds."
The end of the week sees a return of the pattern we have seen through most of July and August.
"Toward Friday and the weekend, the chance for rain will decrease some but still expect some showers and t-storms mainly during the afternoon."
Meanwhile, the tropics remain quite. We have now gone more than 50 days without a named storm.
"The NHC is highlighting a tropical wave that has emerged off of Africa with a low 20% chance for development in the next 3 to 5 days. Too far out to worry about, but we'll track it. Longer range models are indicating a better chance for development from another wave which will emerge by the middle of the week."

Malone says another area models are now noticing is an active tropical wave closer to the Lesser Antille islands.
"It could try to move into the Caribbean over the next 5-7 days. Beyond that it's too far out to say much more, but we'll watch it."
