Today's forecast brings a several bits of good news: there are no tropical threats for the Gulf South, the storms we saw yesterday won't be repeated today, and cooler temperatures will hang around for the rest for the week.
Monday's severe storms helped ease our sweltering summer pattern, reducing temperatures into the mid-70s Monday evening. Those lower temperatures will hang around, with daytime highs peaking in the low-90s for the next seven days. Overnight lows will reach the mid-70s in much of the New Orleans metro.
Rain remains in the forecast, with precipitation chances sticking around the 40-percent mark all week long. We may see some lightning and localized downpours, but we will not see the damaging winds that we saw last Friday and yesterday.
