Showers and a few thunderstorms are moving across southern Louisiana.
"Most so far is light rain, but a heavier batch is expected to move in," WWL TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford forecasts. "The system is moving quickly, so we'll already be drying out by mid-morning and lunchtime. The rest of the day stays chilly and breezy."
She says highs today are only in the low 50s. It gets colder tonight.
"Skies will clear tonight, and another pretty cold night is ahead. Temperatures will drop to near freezing north and west of the lake, while spots south of the lake will reach lower 40s Thursday morning."
Cranford expects the next rain chance for Friday night.
"Right now models have the rain leaving before sunrise Saturday, so we'll have cool and dry but windy weather for Kings Day parades and other weekend events."
