Say hello to Ana, first named storm of 2021

Ana

Subtropical Storm Ana formed in the Atlantic Ocean northeast of Bermuda early Saturday morning.

The storm is moving very slowly, at three miles per hour toward the west, but that is not expect to last long.

"Ana and the large low it is embedded in are expected to turn northward later today as a developing mid-latitude cyclone over eastern Canada and the New England states erodes the subtropical ridge west of Ana," said National Hurricane Center forecaster Dr. Jack Beven. "After that, the storm is expected to turn northeastward on the southeast side of the mid-latitude cyclone."

Ana is forecast to dissipate within three days.
