Snow and ice may cover roadways, but not as likely power lines

Freezing temperatures are forecast to start again overnight tonight and last into Wednesday. That could mean an entire day of snow on the ground in much of the area tomorrow!

"After 3 a.m. towards daybreak probably, for the New Orleans area," said National Weather Service meteorologist Danielle Manning. ""There is potential for that heavier snow to move farther south, and we could see up to three or four inches in the city, which would be pretty crazy."

And Manning says the snow could fall all day.

"The later in the day it gets, the more snow there would be, and it should start tapering off around sunset," said Manning.

The good news, says Manning, is that freezing rain -- the kind that falls wet, then freezes when it hits things like power lines, leading to widespread outages -- isn't as likely, except for areas south and west of the lake.
