Some Northshore frost this morning, more tomorrow

People heading out this morning on the Northshore reported frost on their windshields in several locations.

"I'm north of I-12 in Tangipahoa Parish, and my windshield has a thin layer of ice this morning," one listener told WWL.

Another listener texted, "Frost in Pearl River!"

This as Southeast Louisiana woke up to record low temperatures and some of the earliest freezing conditions ever recorded.

"It's a cold start with 30s and 40s across the area," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone said.  "It's also still windy, so grab the jacket this morning."

He says today's high temperatures only climb to the low to mid 60s, which are colder than yesterday's low temps.

"Tonight is another cold one, but with calmer winds. Frost will be possible north of the lake again, so it's a good idea to protect tender plants north of the lake. Southshore will stay in the mid to upper 40s."

Look for highs near 70 Thursday, back to 80 on Friday, and into the 80s this weekend.

"While we warm up, the humidity won't be bad, so it'll be nice this weekend," Malone noted.
