We had reports early this morning of some sleet and a few flurries along the I-55 corridors from Jackson, MS down to Hammond, LA.
WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says we will see a warm up this week.
"This afternoon we climb to near 59 with a few light showers possible. Expect much of the same Tuesday with highs in the low to mid 60s and mostly cloudy skies."
He forecasts returning to the 70s in time for Thanksgiving, but rainy.
"By midweek we warm even more with highs near 70 on Wednesday and sunshine for travel plans," Malone explained. "On Thanksgiving Day, expect seasonable temperatures in the 50s for the early morning and around 70 for the afternoon. It will be a partly to mostly cloudy day, and showers will likely roll through during the day."
He says that is associated with a cold front that will move across the area.
"Strong storms aren't expected, and rain shouldn't be too heavy."
