As local leaders debate if the should allow trick-or-treating for Halloween, one area sheriff is insisting that should be up to parents.
"I don't see a reason why children can't proceed to have Halloween.," Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet told members of the Parish Council Monday night. "I just encourage parents to be smart."
He said he will have deputies providing safety patrols as they have done every year.
Concerns have been raised as to whether COVID-19 precautions would preclude the annual practice on October 31st. That is a Saturday this year.
Soignet insists that parents should decide whether their children trick-or-treat this year.
