(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Lake County Sheriff’s Police are investigating a crash that left one person dead and nine others injured in the northern suburbs.
Police said two small children were among five people ejected from a GMC Envoy at Route 45 and Rollins Road near Gurnee Sunday evening. The two and four-year-old boys had been sitting unrestrained in the laps of two passengers in the back seat.
Lake County Sheriff’s Police said the SUV had been making a left turn onto Route 45 when it was hit by a Ford pick-up truck that was coming through the intersection. A 62-year old passenger in the SUV was killed. The driver was also injured.
All three people in the pick-up were injured too.
Eight of those injured in the crash were taken to hospitals in serious to critical condition.
