(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An American man has been formally charged with killing one Illinois woman and injuring another.

Germany has still not identified the 31-year old American man who is charged with murder, attempted murder, rape with fatal consequences and possession of child pornography.

German privacy law prohibits releasing the name. Family members identified one of the victims of the June attack near Neuschwanstein Castle as 21-year old Eva Liu of Naperville, who was raped on a walking trail, strangled and thrown down a steep ravine where she died.

The other victim, 22-year old Kelsey Chang of Normal, had tried to come to Liu’s defense during the attack and was also thrown down the hill. She survived.
