CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — DePaul President Rob Manuel has sent a letter to students and staff outlining some new safety guidelines in response to what he called "an alarming increase in safety incidents on our Lincoln Park and Loop campuses."
Among the changes: Those on campus will be required to have their DePaul ID with them and may be asked to show that identification to school safety officers.
Those who cannot prove that they belong on campus, Manuel wrote, will be removed.
The DePaul community can also expect a larger police presence, specifically on nights and weekends, as well as upgraded lighting systems and programs on campus focused on safety.
Manuel said the changes were "necessary," and he asked for the community's "understanding and cooperation" as they work to implement the new policies.
