NW suburban apartment fire displaces nearly 2 dozen residents

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Residents of an unincorporated Arlington Heights apartment building had to spend the night somewhere else after it caught fire.

Fire fighters responded to the three-story apartment building near Lake Cook Road and Route 53 shortly before 6 p.m.

Once there, they upgraded the alarm to bring more departments and equipment to take on the fire.

Tatiana Moore told CBS News Chicago it started in her unit while she was cooking.

"I'm pissed off. I'm upset. I'm angry. I'm heartbroken," Moore said. "I'm just happy that everybody is safe, and they got out."

The Long Grove Fire Department said paramedics took four people to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross was working to find accommodations for upwards of 20 displaced residents.
