
PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A barricade situation in the southwest suburbs resulted in road closures and a shelter in place advisory for nearly an hour late Friday morning.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office announced the barricade situation in Plainfield Township, at a home on Dina Court, just east of Drauden Road, has been called off.
The incident sparked a police response that lasted for nearly two hours.
The sheriff’s office said it began at around 9:40 a.m. when a woman called 911, saying had just escaped from an unspecified incident inside the home. Law enforcement quickly responded to the scene and learned a man had barricaded himself inside the home.
Members of the sheriff’s office along with SWAT and police from both Plainfield and Joliet set up a perimeter surrounding the house.
A shelter in place advisory was issued for a quarter-mile radius.
The sheriff’s office said shortly after 11:30 a.m. the situation was resolved, with detectives taking the barricaded man into custody and the SWAT team clearing the inside of the house.
The woman who made the 911 call was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
