Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, and a prime season for car, truck, and boat wrap scams. Kayla Palmore with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM Newsradio has all the details.

As warmer weather rolls in, more scammers pop up offering big money for putting sponsor logos on your vehicles.

They prey on people looking for extra cash and often mimic major well-known brands.

Fake ads often come with payment in the form of a counterfeit check and the demand to use a money transfer app to pay a vendor to wrap your vehicle.

The targets then learn their transferred money is gone, the check was a fake, and much of their personal information has been handed over.

Always contact the brand company directly to verify the promotion is real and research the company hiring you.
