Police: Four people wounded in Oak Brook mall shooting, two suspects in custody

OAKBROOK, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police say that at least four individuals have been injured from gunshot wounds in a shooting at Oak Brook Center shopping mall and two suspects are currently being held in custody in connection with the incident.

One of the victims is believed to be a suspect involved in the shooting, said Oak Brook Police Chief James Kruger during a press conference Thursday evening. He said that a fifth person has a twisted ankle.

The victims have been transported to area hospitals with "non life-threatening injuries".

Officers first heard the gunshots at 5:45 p.m. near Nordstrom. Kruger said there were reports of two adult males shooting at each other, but police believe there to be a total of three suspects with one still at large.

The Oak Brook Police department provided an update on Twitter.

"This is just a very unfortunate incident that is completely out of character for our area," Kruger said. "We would never have anything like this occur."
