CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two upscale Chicago grocery stores are joining forces: Foxtrot will merge with Dom's Kitchen and Market.

Foxtrot began as an online retailer before opening its first brick and mortar location in Chicago in 2014. Dom's Kitchen and Market is a combination grocery store and restaurant. Both rely on app-based ordering and delivery.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Foxtrot CEO Liz Williams — who will take the top role after the merger — said they’ve “long admired Dom’s Kitchen and Market” and said boards of both companies had been talking “for quite a while.”

Dom's is named after Dominick DiMatteo, namesake of the Dominick's grocery chain, where founder Bob Mariano was once an executive.

Foxtrot has 30 locations in Chicago, Washington, DC, and Dallas

Dom's currently has two locations: one in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood and another in Old Town. A third location is on the way.

The combined company will be called Outfox Hospitality, but the Foxtrot and Dom's Kitchen brands will remain.
