CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - With several holiday events getting underway and many heading to city businesses, Chicago Police leaders said they are prepared for just about anything.

Police Superintendent David Brown told reporters Friday that residents across the city of Chicago can expect to see plenty of police officers this holiday season.

“We’re focusing our attention on protecting retail corridors across the city, the CTA and all of our public transit areas,” Brown said. “We want to prevent any and all types of crime.”

Along with keeping a close eye on public transportation and Chicago shopping areas, Brown said authorities are constantly monitoring social media.

“We are on top of this,” he said. “There are no specific threats to Chicago, nor to any of the festivities over these next three days and throughout the holiday season. If we were to get any, we certainly will share that.”
