CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Following last weekend’s violence by groups of young people downtown, the Chicago police are issuing a warning.

Chicago police’s statement said “reckless, disruptive and violent behavior” that was seen Downtown this past weekend “will not be tolerated.” Police "encourage young people to be safe and responsible" but add that anyone taking part in "criminal activity will be arrested and held accountable."

Young people have reportedly gathered Downtown over the years after seeing posts on social media. And, the police department said it will be monitoring social media and using other methods to keep safe people who live, work or play in areas where large gatherings take place.
