(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A group of Ukrainian women gathered in Daley Plaza Wednesday to memorialize the estimated 200 children killed in Bucha by Russian troops.

Nearly 200 pairs of children's shoes symbolized the loss during the Chicago demonstration, which featured a woman playing violin.

Olga Goffman wants to make sure people don't tune out to the ongoing war.

"It's absolutely horrific, and I know that people are already getting tired about all the news of the war. We just want to make sure that people remember," she said.

She and Iryna Legnko use the word "genocide" to describe the killings because they see the future of Ukraine being murdered by Russian troops.

"This is the kids. It's not the military. It's not even the old people," Legnko said.

Goffman became a US citizen in January and is hoping to bring her parents here from Rivne.
