Elgin suspect accused of stabbing man to death last weekend

ELGIN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing another man to death Saturday in Elgin.

Twenty-one year-old Anderson Contreras faces three counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery stemming from the weekend attack.

Police arrived at the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue to find a man stabbed in the torso with a knife. The charges allege Contreras stabbed the victim, intending to kill him. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Authorities are not releasing the victim’s name until after an autopsy is performed Tuesday. He is being held in custody.
