(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A young man died after an accident at the site where he was working in Buffalo Grove Monday.
According to people who live around the 1000 block of Aspen Drive in Buffalo Grove, crews had been doing sewer line work when the trench collapsed.
Nikodem Zaremba, a 27-year-old from Elmwood Park, became trapped in the trench when the tons of dirt caved in on him.
Rescuers finally were able to get him free after more than an hour of work, but he was unconscious at the time.
He was pronounced dead at Northwest Community Hospital.
