CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Daniel Bricena's vegan empanada business has only been open for a little over a year, but it's already become a staple location of the Chicago Marathon route.

Bricena said Fons Empanadas saw an increase in sales of about 300% at its Lincoln Park location during race day last year due to increased foot traffic.

"They were just supporting the runners and at the same time they were all getting some drinks and food when they were there," he said.

This year, Bricena is preparing for even more customers.

"We're expecting to see a lot more people and then, making sure we give our best to continue being a proud Chicago business."

Fons Empanadas has two locations in the Loop and one in Lincoln park and all of them are along the race route for Sunday.
