Strangers have been helping a Racine couple, whose 9-year-old son was critically injured in an ATV accident in Mexico.
Fernando Duran, or Nando, was put in a medically induced coma after the accident according to his mother, Vanessa.
"We rushed him to the hospital and the did a scan on his head and noticed that his his brain was bleeding," Duran said.
She told CBS 58 Milwaukee they're trying to get the boy home to Racine. Nando's aunt Katie Castaneda is trying to help make that happen.
"The insurance isn't covering it, and they're having to pay it every single day," said Nando's aunt Katie Castaneda.
Castaneda has been raising money on a GoFundMe page called Bring Nando home. Some gave $5. One gave $500. She says this special medical flight will cost $28,000.
"There's just been so many people offering to help, and it's just so nice that there's people that don't even know you that are willing to help," Castaneda said.
After five days, the page raised more than $15,000. The goal is $20,00.
