(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Republican candidate for Illinois governor is criticizing Democrat JB Pritzker for what he calls the incumbent's go-it-alone approach to the pandemic.
Businessman Gary Rabine said he would not have shut down the state's economy as long as Pritzker did last year.
Pritzker, he said, still seems to prefer unilateral action in steering the state's response to COVID-19 and its variants. Rabine said he would be more of a collaborator, calling on the "best minds" around the state and the country.
"I did not see that with JB. Heck, I didn't even see JB talking to the legislators," he said.
Like other GOP gubernatorial hopefuls, he blasted Pritzker's statewide mask mandate for schools in the fall. He said it should be up to local officials and families to make those decisions.
Rabine is the guest on "At Issue," which airs at 9:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
