CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The Better Government Association is asking the FBI to investigate a hacking that forced the group to shut down an online Community Forum on Saturday.
BGA President and CEO David Greising said the forum was a panel discussion based on their two-part story about the old Cabrini-Green Homes public housing development. The focus was on the broken promises of the Cabrini-Green housing transformation.
But shortly after the panel discussion began this weekend, someone posted child pornography and audio and video hate speech onscreen. Greising said the transmission was quickly shut down.
The panelists took a short break and then recorded their discussion anyway, so the event that would have been has been put on the organization’s website at BetterGov.org.
Greising said he’s not concerned with why hackers disrupted Saturday’s online forum. The BGA just wants the FBI to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The BGA reported the crime to the FBI’s Cybercrime unit.
