CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An Oak Park woman who served almost seven years in prison for the murder of her mother in Bali is coming back to the Chicago area.
Everything in Chicago will remind Heather Mack of her mother, Sheila von Wiese-Mack, who she said she thinks of every day.
But the 26-year-old told the New York Post her friends here have been supportive over the years since she and her boyfriend were convicted in 2015 of her mother’s murder in Bali. Von Wiese-Mack’s body was found stuffed inside a suitcase.
Mack told the paper it will be very confronting to be back but she plans to bring her now 6-year-old daughter, who has been in foster care.
Mack is being deported from Indonesia after early release from prison for good behavior.
