CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Howard Brown Health, the Chicago center serving LGBTQ+ patients, has named a new CEO.
Dr. Travis Gayles has led health offices in Maryland, D.C. and most recently the country’s largest school-based telehealth company.
He said he’s honored to be part of Howard Brown Health’s movement to combat misinformation and inequities.
“Howard Brown Health’s legacy as a pillar of support for LGBTQ+ communities in Chicago is something I deeply respect, and what excites me most is the opportunity to further grow the organization's reach and influence across local, regional, and national levels in addressing health disparities for all who walk through our doors,” said Gayles.
It’s a bit of a homecoming for Gayles. He earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois, trained at Northwestern’s Feinberg School and served on the faculty at DePaul. He replaces Dr. Robin Gay,who has served as Howard Brown’s interim president and CEO since last February.
The center said its search committee chose Dr. Gayles unanimously out of more than 200 candidates.
His first day is March 3.
