(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Authorities in DuPage County are investigating after a body was found inside a burning home in west suburban Lombard Wednesday morning.
Fire crews responded to a fire in the 400 block of South Park Road around 8 a.m. and found that flames had spread from a garage to the attached house.
Authorities say the home’s occupant was found dead inside the house as firefighters worked. The Daily Herald reports the deceased was female.
“This is a devastating tragedy. The Department extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Deputy Fire Chief Ray Kickert.
A variety of local agencies are investigating. The Herald reports an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
