(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A love letter written by a teenaged Michael Jordan is among Jordan items that are up for auction.
Lelands Auctions calls the letter “remarkable.”
“One of the most amazing Michael Jordan items we have ever seen.”
It's two pages letter written to his high school sweetheart on lined notebook paper, dated May 20, 1981.
He writes in cursive and has some misspellings. Jordan was an 18-year-old senior in high school.
He wrote, in part, “Laquetta you are my whole life next to basketball. Please don’t get mad about that statement. You are my whole life. But you can’t have basketball.”
He goes on, “one day I hope to make a living of this.”
“Next year I will show you things you can’t believe.”
The letter was consigned by a collector. It has been auctioned before.
She filed a paternity suit against Jordan in 2013. A test showed he wasn’t the father.
If you are interested in the letter, bidding started at $10,000 and is currently at $11,567.
