(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 22-year old man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for carjacking a pregnant woman’s car at gunpoint in 2019.

Daysean Washington-Davis, and two other men, were accused of swiping the pregnant woman’s vehicle from her at gunpoint as she sat in it in her driveway in Downers Grove.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, a friend of the woman had witnessed the carjacking and followed the thieves. While stopped in traffic, the friend approached the stolen car, and the alleged carjackers left the vehicle.

While the friend was moving the stolen car off of the road, Washington-Davis allegedly jumped into the friend’s car and stole it.

The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office said Washington-Davis pleaded guilty to the charge and has been given a 40-year sentence.

At the time of the carjacking, Washington-Davis was out on bond in Cook County for unlawful use of a weapon. Alleged carjacking accomplice Emanuel Embry has also pleaded guilty but has not been sentenced.  A third suspect, Martavious Robinson, has not yet been tried.
