Man charged with double murder inside SW Side restaurant

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man from the South Shore neighborhood is due in court today on charges he allegedly murdered two people inside a fast food restaurant.

Chicago Police announced they arrested a man about 30 minutes after the shooting Monday night.


Forty-two-year-old Mehdi Medellel is charged with the murder of two men inside the JJ Fish and Chicken at 78th and Western.

Police originally said an employee got into an argument with two men inside the restaurant, pulled out a gun and shot them.

A 55-year-old man was shot in the face, and a 56-year-old man was shot in the head, both died at the scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner has ruled their deaths as homicides and has not yet revealed their names.

Medellel is due for a detention hearing later today.
