
BROADVIEW (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man is dead after a large crash on the Eisenhower Wednesday night that shut down the expressway for hours.
State Police said five cars were involved in the crash that ended up spilling over to both sides of the Ike. It happened just after 7 p.m.
Police said, after a crash on the eastbound lanes of expressway near 25th Street in Broadview, someone from one of vehicles ended up on the other side of the median and was hit and killed by a car in the westbound lanes.
The Cook County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as a 26-year-old man from Hanover Park.
Troopers closed both sides from 25th to Mannheim as they investigated.
The westbound side reopened at about 10:30 p.m. The eastbound lanes were back open at about 12:40am.
