
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Schools across the nation including right here in Illinois have confirmed a data breach that exposed the personal information of millions of students.
A number of suburban schools in Illinois are among those nationwide that have been affected by the data breach at PowerSchool, a popular software program used to manage student records among other services.
The Superintendent at Mundelein High School posted a letter telling parents that the breach happened on Dec. 28 and was reported to District 120 by the company on Jan. 7.
The personal student and teacher information stolen by hackers included names, birth dates, addresses, emails and limited medical information.
