CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The toddler who was allegedly pushed off Navy Pier almost three weeks ago was buried yesterday and his family is donating his organs.
Josiah Brown also know as JoJo by his family was buried at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. CBS 2 reported Brown's family has donated the 3 year-old's organs.
In an Instagram post, Dantrell Brown shared that his son’s heart is going to a child in Canada.
Brown posted on Facebook that he himself is waiting for a heart transplant after being diagnosed with heart failure one month before Josiah was born.
"You can't stop being a soldier, because you were wounded in war," Brown wrote. "My son is on our hearts and we keep fighting knowing he is with us in spirit. I'm so close to getting a new heart I can feel it."
After the boy died last week, prosecutors upgraded charges against his aunt Victoria Moreno to first degree murder. They say she pushed the boy into the lake after she let him crawl to the edge of Navy Pier.
