CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police said a person, who got a strange call from a man and then went to see what was going on, may have saved the life of a kidnapped woman who was sexually assaulted and beaten early Wednesday morning at a body shop in north suburban Lake Barrington.
Lieutenant Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff's office said police got a 911 call from someone after that person got a call from Ryan Storm of Palatine.
"Where Storm made some indication he had been pulled over by a local police department and that his car had been torn apart. And he was going to his workshop on Commercial Drive in Lake Barrington to fix this vehicle," Covelli told WBBM Newsradio.
The person who got the call and a couple of relatives went to the body shop where Covelli said Storm had been sexually assaulting, beating and strangling a woman he knew and she was tied to a piece of heavy equipment.
Covelli said Storm fled and police spent hours looking for him until he was spotted in Fox River Grove and arrested.
Prosecutors have charged Storm with kidnapping, unlawful restraint, battery as well as sexual assault and abuse.
