INGLESIDE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - One person has died in far northwest suburban Lake County following a morning collision between a Metra train and a vehicle.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred in the 7 a.m. hour, near the intersection of Wilson Road and Larkin Lane. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Law enforcement and Metra's inspection of the incident spanned the entire morning, leading to schedule changes and noticeable delays for Metra's Milwaukee District North Line. Although trains were operational, as of 11:30 a.m, service was running 15 to 25 minutes behind.
According to WBBM's Traffic Center, Wilson was also shut down, between Route 134 and Rollins Road.
