CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Residents of a West Side neighborhood said porch pirates are becoming more creative and it’s costing them the items they’ve ordered online.
Over the last two weeks, residents of Ohio Street in the West Town neighborhood said their doorbell cameras have videoed a package thief making off with items they’ve ordered.
This particular porch pirate has been wearing a FedEx vest and a mask, drops off an empty box at the front door and takes the full package that had been left earlier by a legit delivery person.
“We have to stop him,” one resident told CBS 2 Chicago.
Video shows the man putting the stolen boxes into the back of his gray or silver Chevy Blazer. Police are working to find him.
FedEx told CBS 2 Chicago they’re not sure where the thief got the vest, whether he may be a former employee or stole the vest too.
