A woman faces charges after Joliet Police say she failed to call 9-1-1 after a child was shot.
Joliet Police say a five-year-old boy was shot on the 500 block of Dover Street on May 16th, apparently by an eight-year-old who got hold of a gun.
Police say 62-year-old Denise Hudson was babysitting the children, and allegedly did not call 911.
Joliet Police Detective Sergeant Tizoc Landeros tells WBBM that "after getting the information that we were able to collect and evidence, we met with the (Will County) State's Attorney's Office and they approved charges for Denise Hudson for endangering the health and life of a child."
Joliet Police say it was the mother of the child who had been shot who called police from the hospital. The five-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen, and initially hospitalized in critical condition.
Joliet Police also tell WBBM they are continuing to investigate the incident.
