ROLLING MEADOWS, IL (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Details are now emerging from a burglary heist that occurred in late February at a Public Storage facility in Rolling Meadows.
Tens of thousands of dollars in personal property was taken from at least six units. The locks were cut off and the units were ransacked.
Surveillance images show a black pickup truck pulling up to the Public Storage on Lois Drive. The license plates had been removed.
Nikola Milosavljevic told CBS 2 he was a victim, claiming over $45,000 worth of his belongings was stolen from his unit.
“They hit the jackpot basically. Once they saw our stuff, they’re like, ‘jackpot,’” he said to CBS 2.
He said Public Storage management doesn’t seem to want to do anything about it.
“They haven’t even apologized to us. It’s almost like they’re ignoring the whole situation,” Milosavljevic added.
Another customer said the burglars got away with $10,000 to $15,000 worth of tools and electronics. It’s unclear if insurance will cover the losses.
The company has had no comment.
