
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- More people have fallen victim to a salmonella outbreak linked to a Northwest Side taco place.
The Chicago Department of Public Health said it has confirmed 55 salmonella infections linked to Carniceria Guanajuato near Belmont and California on the Northwest Side. Last week, there were 20 confirmed cases.
A city spokesman said at least 10 people had to be hospitalized. The restaurant has been closed while it tries to correct health violations including the placing of raw beef and raw shelled eggs above lettuce as well as not properly storing hot and cold foods.
Fox 32 reports one customer remains hospitalized on a ventilator and dialysis.
