3 wounded in drive-by shooting near University of Chicago Medical Center: Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Multiple people were injured in a shooting at the University of Chicago Medical Center campus this morning.

Chicago Police and University of Chicago Police Department officers responded to 57th and Cottage Grove around 5:20 a.m. to calls of shots fired.

According to a security alert from University of Chicago, three people were shot.

Witnesses said they saw someone shooting from a dark gray SUV in the direction of several people standing near a parked vehicle. Officials said the shooting appears to have been targeted.

The suspect then drove away southbound on Cottage Grove. The three victims were taken to the University of Chicago Adult ER.

Chicago police are investigating.
