(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Like so many events, Chicago’s South Side Irish Parade has been cancelled, again.
“We’re all very disappointed to say the least,” event co-chair Tim McSweeney said Tuesday.
The city of Chicago is not issuing parade permits for the first quarter of the year, he said, so once again there will be no parade down Western Avenue. It would have happened March 14.
McSweeney says the parade has special meaning for him.
“Well, for one thing, I met my wife about 30 years ago on parade day,” he said.
In 2021, the parade committee is putting some ideas together for celebrating in a safe, family-friendly way. He says details will come soon.
