(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As COVID restrictions ease, more events that were cancelled during the pandemic are returning.

That includes the St. Patrick's Parade in East Dundee.

Melissa Hernandez, president of the North Kane County Chamber of Commerce, said about 10,000 people usually come to watch the parade.

The March 12 event will give local bars and restaurants a boost as they recover from financial losses from the pandemic.

“This is probably their biggest day of the year, for most of the businesses and bars in East and West Dundee,” Hernandez said Thursday.

The return of the parade also is a sign that there is a "light at the end of the tunnel,” she said.
