(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The White Sox are playing in New York this weekend against the Yankees, but Sox fans are still going to the South Side, for a "garage sale" for White Sox charities.
Edgar LaTorre was first in line at Guaranteed Rate Field.
“It is a great cause, right, we're doing this for White Sox Charity. So, you know, we get to have fun and hang out with some of the guys that we've been out here for over 20 years. So it's a good time. You know, we got here at eight o'clock in the morning.”
The White Sox are hoping to raise $100,000 for various charities by selling autographed baseballs, player bobbleheads, game-used jerseys and some unusual items.
“Game used dirt from the field from a few opening days. I think, maybe even from some playoff games. So there's something for everyone,” Sarah LaPorta Community Relations at Chicago White Sox said.
The sale will return to the Guaranteed Rate Field Patio on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parking Lot E will open at 7 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
