CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two people were killed Monday night in a one-vehicle crash in a South Side park.
Chicago Police say that around 8:30 Monday night a red SUV was speeding along curvy Morgan Drive in Washington Park, which is about 56th Street between Martin Luther King Drive and Cottage Grove Avenue. Police say the SUV sideswiped a silver car that was moving in the same direction and then went out of control and left the street and slammed into a tree.
The Chicago Fire Department says the driver was ejected from the SUV and died. He’s identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as 18-year old Edjuan Poole. A 20-year old woman passenger identified as Taylor Smith also died.
Two other men, ages 21 and 19 were trapped in the back seat and had to be extricated. They’re at the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition.
