CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Thieves used vehicles for a couple of more smash-and-grabs in the city overnight.

Police said that around 4:30 a.m. thieves used an SUV to drive through a security gate and into a shoe store on 18th and State in the South Loop.  They ransacked the store and carted off merchandise to several other vehicles that had been waiting outside. The thieves abandoned the SUV in the store.

Meanwhile, earlier that hour in East Ukrainian Village, in the 1100 block of North Ashland, another SUV was used to crash into a shoe store. The owner told ABC-7 he believes it was an attempted smash-n-grab.

An SUV was also used to smash into a shoe store on the West Side early Tuesday morning.
