CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Hey Chicago, why not kill two birds with one stone and get vaccinated while stopping to get a haircut?
The Chicago Department of Public Health is targeting teens and young adults to get vaccinated against COVID-19 with two special vaccine events at barbershops.
The initiative, called “Vax & Relax,” provides free haircuts and/or vouchers to those who get vaccinated at these events. There will also be live music.
Across Illinois, youth aged 12 to 18 are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine, and are encouraged to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19.
A parent or guardian must accompany any minor under age 18, and unvaccinated parents and guardians will be encouraged to receive a vaccine as well.
Walk-ins are welcome at these events—no pre-registration required.
Schedule for Vax & Relax:
• Saturday, June 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at It's Official Barbershop, located at 1256 W 63rd St.
• Saturday, June 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Josephine’s Jet Set Hair Salon
All COVID-19 vaccines are offered at no cost to everyone, no insurance or ID required. For information about COVID-19 vaccines in Chicago, visit www.chicago.gov/covidvax.
