(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The lead organizer of the historic Kane County Fair says the event is expected to return in July, following last year’s cancellation during the pandemic.
President Larry Breon said the plan is for the fair to run July 14 through July 18.
Breon said Wednesday he expects the pandemic to ease significantly by mid-summer. But there will still be several safety measures in place, including mandatory face coverings and social distancing.
“The only thing for certain is that nothing is for certain, I guess,” he told WBBM Newsradio. “At this point, we definitely, really think it is going to happen. But you know, who knows, with the COVID business, what can change.
“Everything is kind of up in the air.”
Still, the fairgrounds have successfully hosted a flea market, Breon notes.
The Kane County Fair had run every summer for 151 years until the pandemic forced its cancellation in 2020.
