CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Halloween is right around the corner and there's no shortage of fun and trendy Halloween costume ideas for your little one this year.

Bela Farkas, the manager of Fantasy Costumes located on North Milwaukee Avenue said that characters from Cocomelon, a YouTube channel featuring original songs and classic nursery rhymes, are popular right now as well as characters from the animated series "Bluey" and "Paw Patrol".

He also said that the Wednesday Addams costume inspired from the Netflix series "Wednesday" is also a favorite.

"It's probably the number one costume for girls," Farkas said.

Marlene Mendoza, manager at Chicago Costume, a local chain for Halloween costumes agreed that media plays a big role in costume trends.

"I will say the TV stuff does have a pretty big influence on the kids, so this year a lot of kids are getting Little Mermaid because of how that movie came out."

In fact, the Little Mermaid costume for infants is already sold out, Mendoza added.

She also said that costumes from the movie "Frozen", such as characters Elsa and Anna always "sell out no matter what".

Farkas mentioned that other costumes that do well every year for toddlers and babies are "anything that has a franchise" such as Toy Story, Disney princesses, and super heroes like Batman and Superman.

Animal costumes are also popular ever year for babies as well as the classic pumpkin costume.
